Yesterday while talking to Mom, she told me that I'm scheduled to sing at church next Sunday. I told her that I don't have anything to sing. She said, "Well, get something ready."
So I'm writing a new tune for "Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus," which is a terrific--albeit desperately short--text. I'll probably work in a couple lines from "Ah, Holy Child" to lengthen it up a bit.
This morning as I was working on the intro, one of my housemates said, "Must be nice to be able to write music as needed."
It doesn't quite work that way, but it is nice when a simple tune presents itself when needed.

is that "next" sunday the 26th or the 2nd?
