New Glasses

I got my new glasses today. They didn't make it in time for last night's big work party, but that's ok because I was stressed and busy enough without having to take time to get them or get adjusted.

They are a bit of an adjustment. I'm used to fairly large, round lenses, and these are much narrower. The effect is something like looking at the world in widescreen. Apart from that wide window, everything is out of focus and doesn't quite line up due to my strong prescription.

Fashion-wise, I think they make me look taller and thinner. I don't know how that works, especially as I'm feeling rather fat after not running for a while and having far too much to eat over the past couple weeks. When I first put them on, I thought, oh no. I didn't like the look. But everyone else seems to like them a lot, and I'm getting more used to seeing them on me. I'm adjusting fairly well to the narrower window on life, too.

Take a picture and post it on your site so we can all see the glasses. Sounds like they are nice.

Sounds like Joy is an Old Flame of yours. Is that correct?

Joy and I have been good friends for quite a while but do not have "flamish" aspirations or intentions. If you want to e-mail me personally, I'll be more than happy to ignore such questions or comments. ;-) But please don't do so publically for fear of embarrassing fellow commenters.

In the unlikely event of me actually entering a relationship, chances are you'll hear about it on the blog at some point.

The companies that sell glasses like the tiny/skinny lenses because they are less work/more profitable - so they set the standards and call them "fashionable," and we buy them because there's nothing else, except the choices in the "Men's" section of the store: you know, those big ol' "Superfly" aviator type frames which make you look like your grandpa - an aging Viet Nam vet. Although, you can actualy see out of those old man glasses. The new ones are just pretentious and silly - but we wear them because we want to be hip. Or cool. Or just in fashion. Silly.
