A Christmas Song

Ah holy child, Immanuel,
We long to see the place
Where the eternal God of heaven
Lies asleep with human face.
Brightness of the Father's glory,
At your condescension we
Wonder that the great Creator
Should display humility.

Prince of Peace and Proclamation
By whose word creation stands;
Should the arm that shattered chaos
Clothe itself with infant's hands?
Is the voice that broke the darkness
Crying in the winter's cold?
Does the Counselor need comfort?
Dare a mother coddle God?

Lamb of God and Judah's lion,
Newly born Ancient of Days;
Who can see the Spirit moving?
Who can search the Father's ways?
Who could guess the son of Mary
Was the Father's very breath:
He whose wounds would heal our sorrows,
He whose life would conquer death?

Wonderful the ways of Heaven;
Wonderful this mystery:
Son of God and Son of Man,
The Father of Eternity!
Glory to God in the highest!
Glory to his holy name:
Peace on earth has come among us;
God's goodwill made known to man.

Jon, You are, indeed, in a festive mood. That is great. You are a very talented writer. You should publish some of your works!

I am having a hard time trying to start what i want to say without using the word, "Wow!" But there just doesn't seem to be a better one, so - WOW!

Thank you for sharing this. I just LOVE the 2nd verse, "Should the arm that shattered chaos
Clothe itself with infant's hands?" "Dare a mother coddle God?"

Wonderful Jon.
Wow.
